Join internationally acclaimed artist Nikhil Chopra for a compelling live performance, From Land to Fire, at Glynn Vivian Art Gallery. This durational piece delves into Swansea's industrial heritage—once known as "Copperopolis"—drawing parallels with Bombay (now Mumbai), where Chopra previously resided. Utilizing materials like slurry from Port Talbot Steelworks, the performance reflects on the transformation and potential decline of industrial Wales. Through costume and embodiment, Chopra transitions between figures such as coal miners, steelworkers, and factory hands, exploring themes of identity, labor, and postcolonial narratives. This event is part of the Tigers & Dragons: India and Wales in Britain exhibition and is generously supported by CELF, the National Contemporary Art Gallery for Wales.
