Gladys Hynes: Radical Lives

  • Charleston Southover Road Lewes, BN7 (map)

The exhibition takes its title from the many lives Hynes lived within one lifetime: as an artist working across painting, sculpture, illustration and design, and as a pacifist, feminist, suffragist and Irish Republican. Moving through avant-garde circles including the Newlyn School, the Bloomsbury group’s Omega Workshops, as well as Vorticism and Surrealism, Hynes continually reinvented her practice in response to the world around her.
